US Qualifying Events

U.S. Qualifying Events are open to all U.S. twirlers, regardless of organization or association. Athletes and coaches participating in U.S. Qualifying Events must hold a USTA membership, and, if applicable, pass a mandatory background check. Get more information on memberships here.

USA Baton Twirling holds the U.S. Trials in March of even-numbered years, to select the athletes who will represent the U.S. in the World Freestyle Championship, held in August of even-numbered years. It includes the disciplines of Freestyle Solo, Rhythmic Twirl, Freestyle Pair, and Freestyle Team. The 2026 World Freestyle Championship will be held in August 2026 in Paris, France. The athletes who will represent the U.S. at that event will be selected at the U.S. Trials in March 2026.

The U.S. IBTF Qualifier is held in July of even-numbered years to select the athletes who will represent the U.S. in the World Technical Baton Twirling Championship (for Elite level athletes), the Nations Cup competition (for A and B level athletes), and the World Majorettes Championship the following year, as those IBTF events are held in odd-numbered years. IBTF has not yet announced the location of the 2027 World Technical Baton Twirling Championship, World Majorettes Championship, and Nations Cup. The U.S. Qualifier for those events will be held at the 2026 U.S. National Baton Twirling Championships in July 2026 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
